“This workshop combines useful tools to help professionals and community leaders understand their roles and responsibilities under the ADA with regard to sidewalk and trails,” said Richard Andrews, workshop facilitator and ADA specialist. “These tools include providing information on planning, public involvement, design and construction.”
Andrews has worked closely with several communities in Oklahoma to develop ADA compliant trails and sidewalks projects. He has overseen the development of federally funded pedestrian and bicycle-related programs, such as the Transportation Enhancement Program. He currently serves as a coordinator for Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT). His experience with ODOT and ADA give him a unique insight into the transportation needs and concerns of Oklahoma communities.
The seminar also will address the obligation of communities to provide public access under ADA, assess the current condition of sidewalks and pedestrian facilities, how to enhance pedestrian mobility, independence, and safety and identify funding opportunities.
Workshop registration fee is $55. More information please contact 405-325-2848.
